It seems Xiaomi now holds the world record for wired and wireless charging as they have shown off a demo of tech that can charge a smartphone to 100% within 8 minutes using a 200W charger. The demo used a modified MI11 Pro with a 4000 MaH battery and they claimed that they were able to fully charge the device within 8 minutes using a 200W “HyperCharge” system and also fully charge the same phone in 15 minutes using 120-watt wireless charging.
If this is true then this is a world record and definitely a huge step for the Chinese company seeking to solidify its place in other markets. It will also give their future devices an edge over other devices because charging time now is really something to consider when picking a device. If we have a device that can charge in 8 minutes and the battery can last for up to eight hours and more that is a win for us. and I promise you that this device will be picked for its charging speed.
Other companies like Oppo and one plus has also showcased similar kind of fast charging technology though none of them has actually managed to make it into finished products. Even Xiaomi has and announced a 100W system that can charge a 4000 MH battery in 17 minutes which still did not make it to any device till now. But we are seriously hoping that this new technology that can fully charge a device in 8 minutes will be the one to make it to consumer use.
