There have been several reports of Gmail and other Android apps crashing on Android devices since Monday. according to Google apparently, this was a bug in a previous version of the Android system webview. The Android system webview is a system component that lets Android applications display web content, and this was what was responsible for the crashing.
Google has now provided information on how we can help ourselves resolve this issue or our own. They provided a four-step fix for this issue. all you need to do is to go to the Google Play store to update your Android system webview and Google Chrome application. let’s see how to do that below:
- First things first open your Google Play Store application.
- Now type “Android system webview” in the search box and search for it.
- Select the “Update” option.
- Now lastly do the same thing for your Chrome browser application.
Once that is done your Gmail and other Android application will be fixed and the crashing will stop automatically.
Google has apologized for this incident and has shown us the way to fix this on our own. This is what Google said exactly “We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support,” Google also said this in the final update on its Gmail status dashboard. “Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google, and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better.”
