The battle between the two tech giants is well underway, that is the Epic games’ antitrust case against Apple. This case is coming many months after apple mysteriously removed the Fortnite mobile application from its app store because Fortnite decided to bypass the 30% commission apple normally gets when somebody buys an item on the Fortnite mobile application. This is what led to the Epic Games antitrust case against apple which has started yesterday, and as part of that, so much information has come to light.
Information like how Fortnite made more than $9 billion in revenue during its first two years. After the release of Fortnite in 2017, it quickly rose to popularity and generated a lot of money for Epic Games. Fortnight made $5 billion in the first year and then made over $4 billion in its second year after being released. The document has shown us that fortnight has made over $9 billion dollars from the period of 2018 to 2019, which must be one of the reasons why Apple took down the application from the app store when Epic Games bypass their 30% commission.
The company’s initial prediction for revenue in 2020 was $3.6 billion but after things took a drastic turn in 2020 Epic Games profited almost double the figure they predicted. Epic predicted a total of $5.1 billion dollars which is almost double the amount predicted by the company. This figure was revealed by Tim Sweeney’s who is epic Games CEO during a tweet.
